Rough couple of days

This will probaby be brief as I'm not up to talking a lot right now. Yesterday we were notified by the people in charge of the girls' visas and were told that it will take a few WEEKS to get it done. They went on to say that they had no idea why we were told it would be days. So we cancelled our flight for Sunday and have been trying to accept that we have a few weeks more in a empty house.
Then today Josh came home for lunch and within an hour our car window was smashed and Josh's bag was taken. The contents?
ALL of our passports
ALL of the girls' paperwork with the adoption
NOTHING valuable to a thief.

Josh and the police along with Embassy security are out searching the neighborhood hoping the bag was dumped. Josh, Andrew and I can get replacement passports within 24 hours. The girls' paperwork and passports are another story. Remember all the fun with getting that in the first place?
I'm trying to be positive and tell myself that it could have been worse. The girls' carseats and stroller was in the vehicle and it wasn't touched. We are all healthy and safe. We'll get through this too.

You are NOT going to believe this!
After I wrote this post I went to an online discussion board that I frequent and asked for prayers. I was planning to send out an e-mail but . . . within 10 seconds of hitting send that my housekeeper ran in and said in French "Good news! Come! Come!" I went outside and there was the bag with DH and at least 10 police officers! The only thing missing was a Palm that he is replacing as soon as the new replacement comes in (possibly today) and a portable keyboard. Obviously neither we cared about.

ALL the paperwork was in there.

The Palm is useless b/c it was broken (only could do a few things throgh the host computer) and the keyboard was on it's last leg.
I broke down in tears and said "Al-hamdolilah" which in Arabic means "Praise be to God" The police officers all smiled and repeated the phrase and I got a few kisses on the cheek.
DH took me aside and told me what had happened. He said they were driving around and he kept hearing in his head "Look in there!" as they kept passing this particular dumpster. Finally he told the guy. "Stop! I HAVE to look in there!" and there it was!

Yes the Lord is mindful of you!
Do not doubt, you have to jump the hurdles in order for the blessing to come. But think of how great a blessing your girls are and how many miracles have come to ensure that you have them, safe and whole and soon yours, forever. God has moved heaven and earth for you to get these girls.

What an ending to this story! I'm so happy for you that the papers and passports were all there. It has been a long haul getting the paperwork done for your daughters, and you've been patient as possible. Let's hope that the girls' final papers come sooner than expected. :) samm

I'm sorry that you are having so much stress now, however just think of the blessings that are also happening in your life. You and your family are in our prayers continually and you are on the Temple prayer roll here too. Heavenly Father will bless you and you will get back to the states soon with your beautiful family. I so admire your resolve to look at things with a positive outlook. Keep up the good work with the girls they sure look happy and healthy.

What an amazing story! I'm glad it all worked out. Someone was obviously watching over you.

We'll remember you and your daughter's visas in our prayers for sure!

oh my gosh Rachel!!! Thank goodness Josh listened to that little quite voice!!! Heavenly Father is definately watching over you! He can not control the crazy acts of some, but he can inspire the acts of the good ones! Everynight as I pray hard for me to finish and return home, you are always included too! We will still conquer this, keep thinking possitive!

Rachel, how are you still sane?
That is great that y'all were able to recover the bag and the most important contents. That is definitely a faith promoting experience!

Dear chidren,
I have been following your escapades all along and I truly mean it when I say, "WOW"! Are you going to have some stories to tell your grandchildren!! If it means anything to you, I have been doing some extra praying for you every day. Of course, they're only them ole Catholic prayers, but they work for me.
It's disappointing that you're going to be delayed, but there's probably a reason for all this. It's been my experience that everything that seems to be a HORRIBLE THING usually turns out to be something that I really needed to happen all along. It's just up to me to accept it and/or to find the sense in it all. "If it doesn't kill me, it'll make me tougher!".
Love,
Paul

WoW!!! It's all, already been said, but WoW!!! and again Thank goodness Josh was listening... what an amazing test of your faith! As for not being able to leave Morocco yet, think of it as a little extra time with the good friends you have there so you don't have to say goodbye to them too soon. All will be well. These little girls must be awfully special!!! :-) (well of course they are, and Andrew and you adn Josh as well!) GIANT (((((HUGS))))) from across the seas.
