Wii

I know I said that I would write about our trip today but I'll do it soon.
Tomorrow is Andrew's birthday. He asked for a Wii for Christmas but with my upcoming surgery (date is set for December 14th) I thought it may be better for his birthday so he can play while I recover.
So I blindly entered the world of Wii. Josh usually handles the video game stuff.
When I was 8 years old, we got an Atari 5200 for Christmas. This was THE Atari to have! I logged in many hours on that Atari! I think I played Jungle Hunt the most but I only got the girl once! I got hooked on Vanguard for a while when I was older. My sister were more into Ms. PacMan (which I discovered that after you complete the banana level (the last one), it just keeps going back to the banana level faster and faster until you lose) and Centipede.
I never got the Nitendo Entertainment System, etc when I was older. I tried playing it at friends' houses but Mario kept dying on me in the first level. In other words, I stunk at it! :)
We had a Playstation when we were newlyweds and the only game I played was Bust A Groove, which was an AWESOME game by the way! I remember one time we had all of Josh's soldiers (about 40 or so) over to the house for a party and they got so tickled that I could play that game with them.
I don't remember when exactly but we got a Playstation 2 along the way. The only game I've played on that was Dance Dance Revolution. I got it for stress relief when I was working on my Master's degree in Morocco. My housekeeper would give me strange looks when I played. :)
Needless to say, my video game console knowledge was limited. Josh would help me as much as he could with advice, etc but it fell on me. I got the Wii that came with a game and thought I was done. Nope! The game only came with ONE controller. If anyone wants to play WITH Andrew, we need at least one more controller. Those things aren't cheap!!!
But depending on the game you are playing you may need a motion sensor (for EACH controller), a steering wheel and more! I feel nickeled and dimed by this console What I thought would be a $200 investment (plus a game or two) is turning into a much more costly experience. Way to go, Nitendo! You've got me hook, line and sinker!

I agree with getting nickled and dimed away. I got Kenny a Wii (with about 4-5 games) on Ebay in July and gave it to him as an early Christmas present. I enjoy playing Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Mario Kart (the older version). We had to buy a second Wiimote and a second classic controller. However, b/c I got this on Ebay and it's worked perfectly (plus the extra games I got that came with it) and the whole thing came out to be what the price of just the console would be in a store. I feel that I can definitely find a bargin when I need to. (I'm big about getting big Christmas gifts in July and August, but usuallly I wait until Christmas to give... I just really wanted to play with it. lol.)

Wii play is great, because it comes with an extra mote. Check out places like Kohl's for extra Wii gear. They had two wheels there for about $12 or $14 dollars, they had other controllers too. Then if you have additional % off--very good deals.

Favorite games :
Mario Party 8 (which is a bit older now)
Wii Resort
American Idol (this one was a surprise to me)
Endless Ocean (I love listening to the kids play this one--it's so relaxing)
Of course my son loves all the Star Wars games
and the band games--either one
