Happy Gotcha Day, Leah and Leila!

It's hard to believe that it's been 2 years since we brought them home. What I remember about that day was how we kept being told to do one more thing and when we did it, something else would have to be done. I honestly wondered if we were going to get them home! Then we were told March 4th and that didn't work out. Finally we thought March 6th would be the day but by lunchtime we knew it wasn't going to happen. I told Josh I didn't want lunch, grabbed our cat and went to bed. I was so sad. I wanted those girls home so badly. They needed the opportunity to be on their stomachs, to start working on sitting up and more. Thankfully, our good friend, T, stepped in and made some phone calls. She woke me up and said "Good news! You can go get them right now!" I was so scared that someone was going to change their mind that I put my messy hair in a clip and we were out the door in 5 minutes!!! We picked up Andrew and made the 2 hour drive to the orphanage. We were granted provisional custody until the adoption was finalized. Andrew insisted we eat at the local McDonald's like we did on his Gotcha Day. It was such a relief to bring them home. They were 6 months and 6 days old. Leah weighed 14 pounds and Leila weighed 12 pounds. They were below average on length, weight, developmental abilities, etc. Four months later when we were finally able to finalize, they were normal weight, length and right on target developmentally. What a blessing it was to be able to get them home!
Enjoy the pictures.
In their cribs at the orphanage. Sometimes they'd reach through the slats and hold hands!

Finally home!!!
