My April Fools Day - 14 years ago

Man, I can't believe it was 14 years ago when I played this joke on Josh but I thought I'd share on the blog.
Josh had asked me to the Army ROTC Military Ball. It was on April 1, 1995. I decided to take advantage of the April Fools Tradition and play a practical joke. I went to the Salvation Army and paid $3.00 for this awful dress.
Then I had our mutual friends make him nervous about what the dress looked like. When he would ask them about what kind of flowers to get, they would say something like "uh, you'd better stick with white. It goes with anything!" One of my friends even told him that the dress "isn't something just anybody would wear!" The day came and I came down the elevator to meet him. You could instantly see the shock on his face. Being the gentleman that he is, he smiled and said "You look nice." Here is a picture of the dress:

He had a forced smile on his face! :) After pictures were taken, I told him that I forgot my purse upstairs. I went upstairs, changed into my "real dress," wrote "April Fools" on an index card and folded it in half. When I got off the elevator, I had a friend hand him the card. He opened it as I walked around the corner. His reaction was "Oh thank goodness!" Later my mother asked Josh what went through his mind when he saw me in the ugly dress. He said "I told myself 'It could be worse' and we could still have a good time." We had a wonderful time at the ball. Here is a picture of me in the "real dress"

I don't understand what was wrong with the first dress. The pink went so well with your hair!!!! Josh must have been just cringing. Too funny. I really like the other dress.
