The final hurdle with the adoption

To prove American citizenship, we could either pay $750 for each girl for a certificate of citizenship or get their passports. Needless to say, we opted for the passports. The military usually provides passports for free for us when we live overseas but I didn't want to be on a time crunch and find that more information on the girls was needed. We applied for the passports while Josh was on leave last November. When I got home from the hospital after my surgery last month, I had a letter asking for additional documents in order to process the passports. I'm so glad we didn't wait until the last minute!!! I sent the needed documents and the girls' passports arrived last Friday. Hooray!
Now I will be able to use their American Birth Certificates, Social Security Cards and Passports for pretty much everything for the rest of their lives. No need to lug around the 3 inch 3 ring binder with the different adoption decrees, green cards, etc. That can all be moved to our safe with Andrew's adoption paperwork which we have never had to use since his new birth certificate arrived after we finalized his adoption. YAY!

Yippee!! I'm sure that's a relief. I'm thinking of when the intial stack of papers was stolen from your car in Rabat--what a road!
