So Rome's latest things are:
1) Wording of part of the homestudy
2) Wording of Moroccan court order to take the girl out of the country
The first one cost me $210 but will be done.
The second one is a HUGE problem. Rome INSISTS that it HAS to be worded a certain way but the judge here refuses to reword it because other American couples have used this format with no problems. Therefore we are STUCK!
I talked to our Ambassador and he is going to talk to the Ambassador in Rome to see if anything can be done but I"m not optimistic there.
Meanwhile one Moroccan friend, Z, is going to look at the translation to see if it could be worded the way Rome wants it without changing the meaning of the document since nothing translates perfectly word for word.
Another Moroccan friend knows some judges (not sure if she knows the one that I've been dealing with) and will see if she can help me convince one to sign the wording Rome wants.
This is so stupid because other American couples have had the same form with no problems. Why the problem with us?
Oh, and I also asked Rome if there was anything else since they seem to point out the problems one by one thus causing everything to take longer. They wrote me back and said "Please be advised that we can confirm finalization of your case only after review of the missing documents and of your file in its completeness."
So there is no way of knowing if there are any other problems (which could lead to MORE trips to the courthouse 2 hours away) until I resolve these two issues.
I am so frustrated and really do not know what to do at this point. :(

I'm definitely not getting out of here Tuesday and I'll be surprised if I get out by the end of next week.

Rachel, can all of start making phone calls. I'm willing to call congressmen and senators of the area in which you're moving to.
I'm willing to call rome for that matter. If you think it will help let us know and we'll start a letter writing phone calling campaign!

Oh Rachel, this whole thing is so hard! Governments can be so ridiculous sometimes. Ornery. Hard headed... I could go on. They seem the same the world over. Certainly this should not be happening to you. Sending a truckload of caring your way. samm
