This morning my housekeeper came to me and told me something in French about my car. She doesn’t speak English so we rely on Arabic, broken French and lots of gestures. In fact, while I was just writing the previous sentence she came up to me while holding the trash can and said “Le plastic.” I was thinking “Yes, the trash can IS made of plastic.” I sat there for a second staring and realized that she was trying to tell me that she needed more trash bags! So, I went to the garage where we keep our consumable goods and grabbed another box.
Back to the story, so she told me something in French and I could tell that it was about my car. She also said my gardener’s name so at first I was thinking that our gardener wanted to wash and clean out my car which he does on a regular basis. So, I gave her my keys and then she smiled at me and said “Come!” So I followed her out to my car and she showed me that the lights were on. My car has a feature where even if you leave your lights on if the car is turned off and your doors are closed then the lights automatically turn off. Then she takes me around to the driver’s side and the door was open! At first I was thinking “Did someone try to break in to my car?” The only thing is my house is surrounded by an 8 foot concrete wall. There is a door for the driveway that you can only open with a key and a door for the front of my house that can only be opened with a key. So if someone managed to scale the wall to try to steal something, the only way they could get out without a key is to scale the wall again. In other words, it would be stupid to try to steal my car because you can’t get it out of the driveway.
So, back on track AGAIN, I thought that maybe they stole some items (like the radio) from the car. Then I saw a lightsaber on the front passenger’s seat, and some dirty socks in between the driver’s and passenger’s seat. I turned off the lights and tried to start the car (to see if the battery was dead) and it started with no problem along with the windshield wipers, the radio and the turn signal! Apparently at some point this morning (I STILL can’t figure out WHEN) Andrew went out to the car and played with the switches. Took off his socks (I’m not sure why on that one) and left his lightsaber.
All I know is that a certain little jedi will spend some time in time out when he returns from school!
Well, before I trasferred this to my blog, Andrew came home and when I questioned him about my car he said it was his Star Wars ship. Even so, he went to time out for unlocking my car and playing with the switches (which he has been told not to do!).
